One of my female guppies in my 50L quarantine tank has recently given birth to 2 sets of fry. I now have 10 guppies that are 4 weeks old, and 11 guppies that are coming upto 1 week old. My question is how long should I leave them in the breeding trap for? Apart from the fry, the other inhabitants are 3 female guppies and 2 bristlenose plecs (these will be moved into my 130L tank in the next few months).

Also, do I need to keep changing the water in the trap in order to remove the waste on the bottom and put cleaner tank water in?

All i do m8 is leave them in for about 8 weeks then release them, but does vary as some grow quicker than others...

What i do with trap is lift it half out the water and drop slowy back down to refil it up again, does this 3-4 times and repeat the same precess every 3 days.

Hope that helped :)

My fry are now 5 weeks old and i want to release them from the trap into the tank with the adult guppies already in there. I've been told that they should be fine as the adults only eat fry upto about 2 weeks old. Do you think this will be ok and they will survive?

well if your confident there big enuff just let a couple go and see if there still there in a couple of days :good:

Agree, just let a couple out, if the adults do eat them, there is no point putting all the fry at risk, personally though i would leave them in the trap for longer, the trap to them is like i hugh tank anyways and they not doing any harm being in there :)
