how long is it safe to leave my filter off for , i need to remove the water so i can get to the back of the tank, by the way there no fish in there at the mo

what kind of filter do you have??? Is the filter matured??? if its a new tank then it should not matter if you turn off the filter.

if its an external filter then you can join both the outlet and inlet hoses together, and leave it running for however long needed.

if its an internal filter then you can put it into a bucket with some of the tank water and leave it running.

If you turn the filter off, after a couple of hours or so you run the risk of killing off any living bacteria in the filters.

hope this helps :good:

its a matured external did not think of connecting the pipes together so simple doh !. cheers for that.

have you misplaced you specks or what? not like you to missunderstand a question. :p

 LOOK HERE MISSY

  I was giving the other perspective of the question, what about the tank too??? it's not all about the Filter ya know :shout:

:D

I had a 55 run with out a filter for 3 days, as long as you have air getting into it your ok.

Its best to actually read the question first not just be in such a hurry to post all day long .

As long as the media in the filter stays wet its fine for couple of hours. That should be plenty of time for you if not than what brew suggested is great .

I have done the same and never a problem.

the same can be said for you, if you had read the previous posts you would have realized the initial question had been answered, who are you really anyway? or are you so weak and scared to show the your real identity?

just get your kicks stalking people? how sad and pathetic you are...go get a life instead of looking like a fool here and harassing people.

Iv'e tried to avoid replying to your remark Aquer, but I think that was a bit below the belt, her comment was aimed at me and not you, and even then she was joking. It does appear that you have a problem with mamafish as you have made the same remark on another thread. :sly:

sorry Adambrum, hope your emptying of the tank goes well for you. :)

yeah maybe you should read the above posts before you post your reply???
