Hi

I posted a few days ago asking if it was ok to put 2 very pregnant platies in the breeding net together - didn't get too much help on that one. :/

Now need to know how long I can keep them in there for as I apart from looking like they will pop if they get any bigger I dont know when they are 'due'.

Is a week ok?
10 days?
2 days?

How long pls.

those nets are very small and can really stress out your fish and may cause them to deliver early or abort. personally, i wouldn't use one. if you have plenty of plants in your tank for the fry to hide in, and you keep an eye on the tank, chances are pretty good you'll have some survivors. if you still want to use the net method, only one fish per net breeder, and you shouldn't put them in until youre certain theyre ready. any longer than a few hours in the net will bevery stressful.............................. i know, its tough to be certain, thats why i don't bother with breeder nets.....

Never a week or even a day imo. These breeding setups stress alot of females out which is why I've stopped using them. If i had to put a female in one, it would be for no longer than 10 hrs and I would be absolutely sure she was having them that second.
Now i just seperate the female into her own 5 gallon to have them, or i add alot of dense plants(live moss is perfect) to the community tank incase i won't be there when it happens.
