My Balloon Molly came down with white specks a couple days ago. I've medicated twice, a full dose the first day and half the second due to newborn fry...

But today her fins are clamped, the doral isn't raising, the tail isn't flared (looks like this (=) now), and her other fins are held very close... she's also recently taken to the bottom of the tank, not swimming much (just in the past hour).

I couldn't do a 10% change yesterday, but I plan for one today.

My question is...will she make it? She's not looking very well...isn't active at all...

She stressed if she clamping and laying on the bottom of the tank isn't a good sign either, what are your stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
The white specks do they look like grains of salt or are they fluffy looking, has she been flicking and rubbing against objects and laboured breathing.

Like littls specks of salt, and yes, she has been rubbing off on things lately.

Today when I tested:
Nitrate: 20
Nitrite: 3-5
GH: 75
KH: 40
pH: 7.0
Ammonia: 0

I've recently started cycling since I hadn't before (bad info from lps), and she's the only one showing these symptoms thus far.

That a high nitrite reading no wonder she is clamping, i would do another water change, increase aeration and add the med back to the water removed.
Do you have any scaless fish.

I've already got some Aquarium Salt cycling through. Of course, I'm doing what the lps told me on the aquarium salt...so I'll run the advised method by you.
Put 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons in a container (she gave me a clean little bowl thing, the same horrid holders they use for the Bettas, just with a hole at top), and fill it with (good) water, then set that in the tank.
That's what I have as of right now.

How do I do aeration? Don't think I've heard that term before (^^;;)

My stock thus far is:
(10 Gallon tank...the Juvies and Guppy have a planned home, they just have yet to be relocated)
1 Balloon Molly
1 Red Wag Platy
1 Sunrise Guppy
6 Balloon Molly Fry(Juvies?)
6(+?) Red Wag Fry (very newborn)
1 Ghost Shrimp
1 Algae Eater (still working on identifying...the lps didn't have his info in the right spot so I missed it)

I just looked over and saw the Guppy bounce off of the gravel, along with two Juvies who bounced off the container with the salt.

The Red Wag has yet to, thankfully.

Needless to say, I don't think I'll be looking towards the lps for info anymore :/

Salt no good with algae eater scaless fish and it will burns it skin, so i would remove it with a water change.
Increasing aeration in a tank, if you have a filter you can turn up and down turn it up, if not a pump with an airstone attached.

The undergravel filter I have has two pillars on either back corner, both have their own pump attached to it, so theres no sharing of the power. They don't have anyway to increase the power, though.

And meep! Didn't know about Algae Eaters being scaleless, going to fix that ASAP.

Ok, with whitespot med and high temp it reduces 02 in the water, i would go to the lfs and buy an air pump and airstone, good luck.

Thanks a bunch.

The other two have just within the last hour started showing clamped fins and the Red Wag is bouncing off objects. They're swimming a little...but not near like they did this morning and yesterday. The Juvies have yet to show any symptoms, and the fry haven't been very active from the start...

going to go out and grab that airstone as soon as I can.

Ok good luck, i would get that water change done.

Okay, I did a 10% water change because I lacked any more treated water to use on it (I also managed to spill a very small amount on myself... :*) ) and added in some Ich medication.
I mentioned needing an airstone to my dad (my transportation...no liscense yet) and he said that the filter has airstones on it (which makes sense to me now...). The two pillars in the back have cartridges on them which bubble as the air passes through. Is this enough, though?

Edit: Oh yes, and the salt is out. Thank you for that information, I'd hate to be hurting the poor little guy any more than I have >.<
