How long does it take for the black ruby barb to turn black?

The maroon and black colouration is normally present full time in mine, but is normally at its best when the fish are in breeding mode. How big are your fish? How long have you had them?

I have had them for about 3/4 wks now , I can see that one is starting to change.

Maybe I shouldn't be impatient.
