i had her in about 2days,
its a 35litre tank with riccia, bubblerap on the top,
it has a coconut cave and a spongefilter,

Hi

Maybe re-chimney her for 24hrs. Is this one you got from Modaz?

Hummmm......I wouldn't have tried spawning her yet. She was only in transit 3 days ago, which leads to stress from the travelling and having a new environment. A female needs to be in top condition to spawn safely. We always condition for 2 weeks minimum before the female even goes in the chimney, and even then we have had one die shortly after spawning. The stresses of spawning are immense on both male and female.

I know Modaz only feeds good quality foods to all his fish, but you have to allow for the stress of travelling.

ill re-divided the tank and separate them,
do you think bettagram food will be high enough quality?
thanks for the advice  :hyper:

Sorry i haven't heard of that food. We use Attisons Betta Pro pellets.

When conditioning its best done so the male and female cant see eachother. If they can see eachother they will still be under stress, which during conditioning is not wanted.

In the spawning tank we have some bubblewrap or polystyrene at one end, and silk plants, sponge filter etc at the other. This seems to help the female hide away from the nest area. So, at the nest end there is no cover for her, which means she can hide at a safe distance.

OUCH!! yes most definately too early to spawn her, she will need atleast 10 days of high protien foods 3-4 times a day and so will he. She was fed once a day and this alternated from live frozen brineshrimp/garlic and Aqua One pellets the other. She was not fed for 1 day in each week.

Anyway the male will chase her from the nest at times and then try to persued her back, if he can pursued her back he has proved himself worthy of mating, each betta is different. Some females are so up for it that they go and get the male themselves  while others are so shy.

the tank is divided, the female looking very bright and full of colour,
ive fed her some blood worms, daphnia, and copepods
she loves them
she seems to be less stressed and energetic.
