Hi all,

I wanted to ask, assuming that the following list of fish are:

- housed in an established and mature Community tank where the water conditions are in tip top shape and are stable
- the tank is well maintained and well filtered/aerated, not over-stocked and the fish are well-fed
- right mix of fish as to not cause any stress on the community fish due to aggressive fish

Based on these assumptions, how long do you think the following fish would live for (approximately)

Rummynose tetras
Cardinal tetras
Neon tetras
Clown loaches
Yoyo loaches
Bronze corydora
Sterbai corydora
Bristlenose pleco
Danios

I understand there will be a lot of other factors that effect these fish's lifespan, but just a general ball park figure would be great.

OK YOU HAVE ALOT OF FISH AND I CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO GO THROGHT ALL OF THEM SO PUT IT THIS WAY THE BIGGER THE FISH THE LONGER IT LIVES BUT WITH SMALL FISH THEY WOULD NORMALY GET EATEN SO THEY WOULD LIVE ALOT LONGER SO ABOUT 1-3 YEARS MAYBE.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT IF THE WATER CONDITION IS BAD THEY WILL LIVE TO THE SAME AS A HEATHY FISH AS THIS MEANS THAT IT IS MORE LIKLY TO GET DISEASE AND THEN DIE.

DO YOU GET MY DRIFT COZ MY FINGERS ARE TIRED OF ALL THAT TYPING

JIMMY, THE CAPS LOCK KEY IS RIGHT ABOVE THE NUMBERS ON YOUR KEYBOARD  PRESS IT!

small tropicals like tera's and danio's you'd probably get 4/5 yrs out of circumstances permitting
plecs can live for yrs, not sure about bristenoses specifically, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's 10yrs+
loaches I haven't a clue though sorry

I have heard that the longest a Clown Loach has been kept alive in captivity was 50 yrs. I believe, but I'm sure he was probably in a huge tank.

i know that neons (if you can get them well established) can live for 10years! then agen some anual fish normally die during the dry season i.e some species of killifish so you will only get about 2 years max out of one of them.

hope it helps :D

Rummynose tetras 5years
Cardinal tetras 4years
Neon tetras 5 years is common but 10 is possible
Clown loaches 40+ years
Yoyo loaches 30+ years
Bronze corydora 5years
Sterbai corydora 5-7years
Bristlenose pleco 15years but 20+ is possible
Danios depends on which species ZD/LD 4-5years 3 is average. PD 6years GD 7-10years

all ages are aproximate and over/under will depend entirly on the conditions they are kept in

Thanks a lot for the replies.

The-Wolf, do most corydoras only live for 5-7 years? Are all cory species fairly short lived?

Actually i remember reading about someone who had a bronze cory that was 11years old, but thats just what i've read- havn't personally been fish keeping that long to know myself.

omg yoyos 30+ year lifespan!!!
i think my loaches may outlive me...........i'll have to make provisions for them in my will.............
