I have 2 yellow labs and 2 Cobalts. Im feeding them every 3 days and even then not to much as to help keep my ammonia levels down.

Just curious how long does it take until they starve to death and also will they grow properly (no defects, size etc) if i feed them this little for a month?

mmm, certainly fish can survive quite a while without food and more fish die from overfeeding than underfeeding, however I would have thought feeding them a tiny amount a couple of times a day would be better than a larger amount every 3 days.

fair enough, these cichlids are nearly always a problem to feed to. I feed them HBH 8 Veggie Flake and they just let the pieces float around and stay on the gravel, espcially the yellow labs, the cobalts seem to eat more (much bigger mouth too lol).

try feeding them so good quality cichlid pellets

Hikari do a wide range of cichlid pellets, from baby pellets upto 5mm ones.
I suggest Hikari Cichlid Excel mini for your fish.
