How Long Before....

My Molly's stop having babies....I have had them in a tank on their own...away from those highly sexed males, for nearly 3 month now, my marbled molly made her third drop last week, and my black molly decided to drop me a right batch today....I came down this morning, and saw LOADS of fry, I thought oh noooooooooooo...(I am a sucker ya see and find it hard to leave em in the tank to get eaten) so before I went to work, I thought I would catch a few as didn't have many surviving from her first batch...I caught ten and then thought right I am off to work, but on coming home tonight, I saw there were still loads, I have caught some more, and do have a fry tank which they are now in, I am going to move the older molly fry to another tank...so making room for the new additions...I wish I was not so soft...but I am, can see me going to get another little tank this weekend...!

So back to my original question....will it be another 3 month before they stop having fry?

Oh jesus....gotta say my black molly fry are so cute

female mollies carry sperm packets around with them in case theren't any males to breed with. They can continue to use these sperm packets for up to a year after they were knocked up. Normally they use them up within 6 months.

Aww thanks for the reply Colin...blimey hope mine do not carry sperm packets for a year..it will drive me mad...lol...hopefully the latter....six months....oh and BTW...I do not think you make 'silly arsed comments' I think you are very helpful...!!!!

She will continue to have fry for up to 6 drops from when she first got pregnant, bear in mind they can drop fry every 4-6 weeks so they can basically be pregnant for up to 36 weeks.
