My 105 gallon tank leans slightly forward and to the right, which is a bit unnerving to me. Its a high quality Oceanic tank but it still makes me nervous. How level are your guy's tanks?

Our first tank wasn't very level at all and we were extremeley worried about it. We couldn't find any suitable matting to put underneath and decided to buy a camping roll mat to put underneath. It worked a treat and we used it on a couple of our other tanks.

So did you put it under your stand? I can probably get some shims to put under the stand.

Noo, we didn't have a stand. We have a built in shelf in the living room alcove so the tank sits on there.

mine drops about 1.5cm from left to right- also it rocks a bit when you approach it - thanks to the house sitting up on piers anda little bit of flex in the flooring.

EDIT: forgot to mention it has been this way for 12+ months now.

my tank is very level which it more than can be said for my house. every floor and wall and door lean in various oposing directions. It's like living in the house where the crooked man lived. If I lie on the floor and look from the lounge door to the back doot it makes me dizzy as they lean in opposite directions . lol
the tank there for has about a 3cm dip to the right where the floor leans down.

I had a tank which had a tilt to it, the foam under the tank had been compressed after i added a rock which was too heavy to one side of the tank.

anyway a few years later the bottom panel of glass cracked straight through on the down side, right along the stand support. luckly there wasnt many fish living in the tank at the time and i had an empty 40L.

ive been careful not to let my tanks tilt ever since.

A few of my tanks are out a little, mostly side to side due to the pitch of my basement floor. Shims level them nicely, i have a 55 & a 72 that are out nearly 1/4" with 1/2" of wood under the low side already. Being in the basement I'm not overly concerned about leakage.

The 65 gallon tank in the living room is a different story, it's dead level. If it leaks I'll have a lot of home repairs to do.

The small tank in my kitchen is level (mostly bcause the work top is level).

The bigger tank in the lounge is not - it was but now it's not (don't know why) and it's too much hassle to sort - not too bad though.

We're moving (hopefully) early next year so I'll make sure it's more level then!!

My 55G isnt very level front to back but that is just because of floor flex. I tried shimming it and it made it better but it rocks a little everytime I walk by as the floor flexs more.

The reason to keep them level is keeping equal pressure on all point of your support structure. If you create a stress riser then it will cause a failure maybe not right away, but def over time could cause problems

Mine was 1/4 back and same to the right. I put it on 3/4 inch plywood with i/4 inch shims where it leaned. It sat on an oak chest. It was either that or raise the entire house.
