How Is It Done..what Does Mating Look Like

My 1 male swordtail in my tank is hassling my 3 females (2 plats 1 sword) and i think he may be about to mate with one or all of them..but as ive never seen them,what does it actually look like? Does he swim upside down and actually penetrate a hole in her with the gonopodium or what?

(BTW i think the 3 females werent pregnant when i got them as they were segregated at the LFS)
