Hi,

I'm getting a bit of an algea problem on the stones in my tank and a bit on the glass. So I'm thinking of getting an algea eating fish to help.

I was thinking about getting a couple of ottos, but then I read somewhere that black mollies eat algea as well. So how good an algea eater are they?

Thanks

They like veggies as a main part of their diet and i guess they consider algae a veggie so i think two would do a good job at keeping it clean but snails do a better job, althought they lay eggs and can quickly overpopulate an aquarium

There are many varieties of algae, some they will eat and others they won't. They will generally snack on the slimy sludge types, but not the hard crusty types or the hair like types or the microscopic green water types.
