How Does This Sound?

I recommend looking at as many tanks as possible lol. what about seiryu stone or a mix of the two? I agree its difficult making a plant look like a focal point... without it looking odd anyway.

If you have like a mountain path kind of effect, on one side you've got the majority of plants and hardscape at the back, with your HC at the front, then a gap between the hardscape and plants, and then your favourite plant and maybe some redmoor or stone of some sort so it doesn't look too lonely.

ive scraped the echinodorus idea . im going to look for some nice branchy wood :good:

the nano (unipac) stuff is what i have in my tank. I personally like the stuff, it's relatively easy to make different shapes and scapes out of the nano stuff. You'd probably need more than one piece Mark, there are 5 bits in my tank. It'll be fine for moss as well.

yep i was thinking more than 1 piece ian . i was just using that piece as an illustration. il probably fix several bits together somehow and then tie it to something heavy with fishing line so i dont have to wait for it to sink . ive looked on aqua essentials , and the ebay shops , im about to check aquarist classifieds as well. does anybody know any other sites that sell it?

i got mine from my LFS, AE have some good bits by the looks of it. You may find it in certain MA's as well. I always find it quite difficult to imagine what it will look like just from net photo's, i like to get my hands on it.

i agree id prefer to get my hands on it 1st but lfs round my way are useless

You've scrapped it? I would have done both ideas! :p

you mean the echinodorus?

A little bird tells me that Biotope Aquatics will be listing at least another 30 pieces of Nano sized Sumatran Driftwood in their ebay shop next week.

You could also take a look at the Marsh Root they stock.

ive been looking at all their wood . the only thing i dont like about that marsh root is that most of the branches are sawn off square at the ends which gives a bit of an unnatural look. ive seen some lovely branchy bits of redmoor on aqua essentials . and plantedtanks has got some lovely mazanita woodd but that stuff is an arm and a leg .

im probably going to go with a mix of redmoor and rocks for the hardscape. ive been looking through the critique section on aquascapingworld and have picked up some great ideas. ive pretty much got a mental picture of how my hardscape will look and how i will use it to get the transition from foreground to background .

seems such a long way away . do my tax return april 6th should get my rebate around 5 days after . then got a sickening amount of it to shell out on mundane stuff ( £550 renewing my tickets for work for starters) but there should be enough left in the pot afterwards to get my fire extinguisher , regulator substrate and plants. oh and a new drop checker as i managed to drop mine and break it
