Been looking at videos from the ADA gallery and even his huge tanks just have 1 set of lily pipes, how do you get 10x turnover with one set? I'm still figuring out how to filter my planted Vision 450 and people have said use 2 x filters and a spray bar or 1 filter and Koralias and I dunno what to do?????????????

I know right... Everyone of my plants is swaying around yet the algae still points at lack of circulation

For most of the ADA pictures the tank equipment is removed to give a better image, and I'm sure Mr Amano doesn't set up tanks without having to combat algae, although he must be pretty good at it by now! The experience he's gathered must play a part also, it's just finding the right balance and what works for you.

What you dont see is that the tanks are cleaned everyday ;)
Easiest way to prevent algae from developing.

Thanks, Aaron

So could I get away with 2 x FX5's with 2 x Lily pipes in a Vision 450? With the regular cleaning lol, they can't remove the equipment from all the tanks anyway as these were videos of people just walking around his gallery, so I doubt they'd take half the equipment out for visitors lol.

The two FX 5's should be sufficient, you shouldn't have algae problems providing everything is right.

Ah right, if it's for individual shoots the equipment is removed, obviously in a video they wouldn't, my guess is Amano uses inline heaters and CO2 etc.

I get a phone call from Amano everyday, pesky guy... Always asking me for advice on growing plants...

Yep.

Have you seen the NA gallery? Most of those tanks look as though they have lots of light dont they. Truth be told, most of them are actually low light because the halides are suspended a fair way above the water surface. Tom Barr went along with a PAR meter and measured the light intensity.
Less light= less problems :good:
I imagine most of Amano's tanks are actually low light.
