Hi, I've just a got a new tank setup and a canister filter, an AquaOne.

I was wondering how you can get the water for the "In" tube to start sucking water into the canister filter and release water through the "Out" tube.
I've read and re-read the instruction manuals many many times, but it says is to provide a suction pressure on the "in" tube, but I've tried sucking on the tube (didnt know how else to do it) but the water would never go in.
The other method to get the canister started is to take the lid at the top off and fill it up with water. I tried doing this but the water didnt come out through the outlet tube.
How would I be able to tell if the filter is working properly?
