Fish Fanatic
I just got done feeding the Bettas some brine shrimp, and immediately after, Sweeney's throat looked "full" (there's a bulge just under his jaw, just in front of the black "fins" that flare out when they flare, between the split (I hope that makes sense). It almost looks like a tumor, but Sweeney keeps jumping around the surface, almost as if he's desperate for air, then he sinks like a rock to the bottom. I was holding him up to the surface with my hand, and now he's in a cup with a little bit of water so he doesn't have to work so hard to get air. He's still alive, but I'm freaking out. He's my first fish and it's hurting me (and scaring me) so see him puffing away at the bottom of the cup. Can you save a choking fish? I know I read once about someone gently squeezing a fish to free it of a pellet that was stuck in it's mouth, but there's nothing stuck in his mouth: it's like somethings stuck in his throat.
I haven't checked on the fish all day, but since he was swimming normally just before I started putting food in, I don't think this is a tumor. It came on immediately after he got some brine shrimp. In fact, he was swimming around with two at once, trying to gulp one hanging out of his mouth while still chewing the one in his mouth.
