So I gots me a male/female ram combo. right.

How do I know, erm, what types of actions and activities do I look for to see if they are compatiblte with each other? in other words I want to know if they will be a mating pair. what types of behavior are of such pairs and just non-pair couple of female and male rams.

THANKS! :alien:

If the male is not attacking the female is always a good sign :)

Seriously its easier to tell if they are compatible when the female is in breeding condition. The male will generally keep close tabs on the female and ward off any fish that even goes near her, they will pick a site to spawn and then mark it out as their territory for a few days, if the male fertilises the eggs they will hatch in about 3-4 days time and they will guard the "wrigglers" which dont really move anyway until they become free swimming. The Rams are particularly aggressive to any fish that comes near them at this time, once the fry become free swimmers then the male generally buggers off and hides awaiting the next time the female is in breeding condition. (this is a personal account of my Rams when breeding)

Generally if the eggs are not fertilised by the male then the female eats them after about 2 days.
The first time mine spawned was in my community tank (came as a shock as id only picked the female up on the Fri and it was spawning by the Sun night), they managed to keep all fish away from their marked out area except one... Mr Clown Loach ever inquisitive decided that he simply must go look at what was going on regardless of any consequences (a few scuffles later he gave up, and was unharmed)
