Hey guys, recently i've had this problem with ammonia..... I mean it's like only 0.02 ppm but i just can't get rid of it! any ideas fellow members?

can you give us a bit more background please

what size is the tank, what fish do you have, what equipment is running, what are your other test results, what is your maintenance routine, any new additions or changes recently?

the more info we have the better the chance that we'll spot the problem!

The PH is 6.4, tank contains 3 discus, using 1 fluval large size filter, no plants, using airpump and bubble wand, all water stats r zero except for ammonia just hanging there...

how long has the tank been set up?

Discus in an uncycled tank. How odd.

What test kit are you using that will detect 0.02ppm of ammonia?

If you are using a liquid based test kit, sample your tap water and compare that to the tank water sample.
If you aren't using a liquid based test kit, buy one and test again.

As stated above - how long has the tank been set up?

what did you use to cycle the tank??

Under normal conditions (ie just adding ammonia) you can't cycle a tank within a week. Sounds like you've gotten wrong advise and just left the tank sit for one week? especially if you have no nitrates

This is the key question. Unless the OP has some lab-grade material, no off-the-shelf aquarium home kit is anywhere near accurate enough to measure hundredths of ppm.

I think tank size is an important question. Perhaps the tank is overstocked and it's overwhelming the biological filter?

I hope the tank is big!
If you have 3 discus's..they are goinf to need a lot of space.
Also, did you instant cycle?

Discus in a tank thats cycling... These fish are very sensitive to ammonia. No wonder they look so miserable in your picture.

You want to know how to get rid of your Ammonia? Do water changes.

Lots and lots of water changes. Add zeolite to the filter as an interim measure if you must. Add water treatment containing ammonia remover (ammo lock)
