How Do These Plans Sound?

I mentioned this before but I have just done it now. Ive droppped from hi-tech to low-tech since I cant live in the same house as my tank and I dont have the time to travel to it anymore so a family member is doing it for me.

Tank is a Rio180 was running Ei with 120W light I have now dropped it to 60W.

My plans are 1x a week:

20% waterchange and gravel vac.
10ml trace
1/2 teaspoon KNO3.

How does that sound? Tanks is not very heavily stocked its mainly tetras but theres a few barbs and 3 angels in there aswell.

Sounds fine, but whats the KNO3 for? Probably not necessary in a low-light tank.

Im paranoid about the NO3 dropping too low, I cant test the water so I thought I might aswell throw a bit in. Ive had problems before with low light with BGA setting in as my tap water contains no NO3 and im lightly stocked so there aint much building up.
