How do platys actually breed?

How do they actually breed? My male platy keeps rubbing next to my females,is this how they get the females pregnant?

well from watching my platys, the male rubs up against the side of the female a bit to the back and his gonopodium (willy fin) swings forwards and aims at her.....i think thats all there is to it...
