How Do I

okay.....

im no expert but hes some steps to take pictures of betta/or any fish

1. Buy a camera. Mine is 5 Megapixils or something it works fine 150 bucks at walmart.
2. When taking pictures dont take a picture of a fish in bad lighting. use the whitest light not a incandesent.
3. dont take the picture straight on if you use a flash. If you do use a flash take the picture at a angle. THis way the flash doesnt blind your camera. i recomend you use he flash.
4. use a the cameras macro setting.
5. Use the highest quality picture your camera will let you. if you dont have a memory card then you will just have to take 4 pics at a time and load them into you computer. but since you are waising nothing doing this take 100 pictues and delete the ones you want. Rechargable batteries help alot!
6. I use 400 ISo, thats the highest my camera goes, more expensive ones probably go higher.
7. use a tripod to keep the camera steady.
8.use the timer. this will cut down on blue from the shutter speed. my camera does not have a setting for this but i think some do.
9. clean your glass!!! both sides.

with bettas - use a mirror to keep the fish flaing where you want to take the pic.

anything else i forgot? synirr? you take really good pics whats you secret?

Thank you I wanted to post pics of my babies on here but cant get a good pic lol

heres some i just took using the above methods.

white pk male

and my short body pk male

probably some of the best pics ive taken..

and another thing is make sure all the other lights in the room are off. and take them at night so the only light is coming from inside the tank you are taking pictures of.

good luck

I agree with everything bUcky, except #9. Timers never work for me because they just aren't fast enough to focus on what I want... my fish are too fast. For reef tanks, I could see how using the timer would be perfect though. Also, I turn on all the room lights, the tank light, and the flash. Without the room lights, the background is too dark and makes the foreground look too light... but that's my preference with my pics.

Have fun taking pics Himmel! Definitely try all the suggestions and see what comes out good for you. #3 is the big one to practice; for me, sitting on the floor and shooting the camera slightly up works the best for the flash not to bounce back.

My pleco is the only one that I can shoot without flash since he stays still and poses for me.
