How Do I Wash Silver Sand?

hi, i've just bought some silver sand, but what is the best way to wash it?

take a bucket and fill it 1/4 with sand and then run a hose pipe into it continually, so it over flows, then keep swilling until the water runs clear.

Put the sand in a pillow case. Run the hose till water is clear.
