I got a new fish on Saturday and it had a long way to travel.

When i got it, because of its size I couldnt put it in a quaranteen tank but now fear he may have fin rot.

How do I cure it? its in a 200g tank so would use a bottle up each time but I cant surely put a 14" fish in a 24 x 12 x 12 tank so am stuck for ideas.

I don't no what fish you have but if you have no scaless fish maybe add some salt to the tank, also I would treat the whole tank if you have 14 fish with finrot.

Sorry must of read it wrong. You will have to medicate the whole tank if you can't issolate the fish.

This is why you should always have a quarantine tank proportional to your main tank - I generaly say about a quarter the full size... But I do realise this is impractical with bigger tanks and understand fully. Unfortunately, it looks like your only choice would be to treat the whole tank, do lots of water changes and maybe add a little salt. With luck, you won't need too much medication. Finrot - provided it isn't too serious - can usualy be treated by providing good water quality and little more.

i would add salt
it would be quite cheaper than those finrot meds anyway

or give your fishy a salt bath for 30 minutes in your quarantine tank.

He would probably hate you for it today, but he'll end up loving you in the long run!! :)
