Hi,

I have a AquaClear 50 Filter, and whenever i unplug the filter, or if a power failure, the filter will syphon the water back into the tank... How do i prevent it from back-syphoning?

My friend told me to drill a hole in the inatake tube, just under the water surface... but this makes no sense... because if its under the water surface, it will never get air... because when the filter back-siphons, the water level will rise, not drop... unless i drill the hole on the intake tube, that is inside the filter box...

Anyone have any ideas?

When I was running AC's I kept the tank as full as possible. They would back siphon a little, but only down to the level of the tank.

Same as Tolak. I keep a high water level while still trying to have some water surface movement. Besides, the lower the water level, the noisier the tanks get.
