hello,

i am just about to buy my first tropical fish tank, i think the one im looking at is about 20 litres, do you think this is big enough, it comes with everything.

what should i put in there i like the pretty coloured fish but not sure what i can put in there, i like the fish that look like that film finding neomo. woudl this be suitable.

also what do i do with the tank and how long do i leave it before putting the fish in.
i am completely new at this but you got to start somewhere, i keep reptiles but fish i find more relaxing and fun to watch.

please help me as really want to get started

regards

Buy the biggest tank you can afford and support.

The larger the tank the easier it is to keep stable. 20 litres will not hold very many fish and its very easy to overstock it.

There are loads of useful topics on here regarding cycling your tank, in particular fishless cycling (getting the tank ready without using fish).

Its a great thing to get into but you can't cut corners. The key is patience and knowledge. So read up as much as possible.

Warning.

Its highly addictive and can seriously damage your wealth.

first decide if you want to run a salt water tank or a freshwater tank. both need lots of attention but i think freshwater is easier personally.

Do a bit more research before you buy a tank. Talk to your local aquatics shop and do lots of research....as you are doing!
The 'finding nemo fish' are saltwater marine tank. Personally...although I can see the attraction of these fish I think the best idea would be go freshwater tropical first and then move onto a marine tank if you succeed with the tropical! That's just me though.
You can get plenty of stunning fish for a tropical tank - it's cheaper too!!
Personally.....as a starter tank I'd go for a community tropical tank! It's a good start and the easiest with beginners.
You are completely correct.... everyone has to start somewhere and you've come to the right place for advice!!
