I have bought a clump on a few occasions from a LFS which is dotted about their small tanks and is in beautiful condition. I place it in my 300 litre tank and within a week it starts to clog up a little with tank debris, starts to develop very tiny brown fur like attachments, looks unhealthy and begins to deteriorate.

I do a 35% water change weekly and regularly change my foam pads (trickle filter).
Although this is a hardy plant, I am struggling badly with it - any ideas?

Lots of flow (aim a powerhead at it).
Good levels of nutrients and CO2 (CO2 only needed if lighting is too high).
Shrimps. They are fantastic at picking through the moss and freeing it of debris.
Trimming. Trim it and it will come back even better.

Good light , keeping it grub free and spreading it out when it start growing.
Nutrients in water and co2 will even make it pearl.

I put a small bunch in my killifish tank, it has quadrupled within a month. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjWSd5IaJKo
