How do I go about vacuuming the substrate in my fry tank?

In the UK, we have a habit of using the brand name of the first used device. For example, you'll read UK members referring to hoovering the substrate. The first vacuum cleaners were made by the company Hoover, so all vacuum cleaners regardless of who makes them are now called hoovers and the process of using a vacuum cleaner is hoovering.

It's a bit like using the verb 'to google' meaning to use an internet search engine :)
We sometimes do it over here with particular items

Be careful. That's all you have to do , be careful. Use a smaller diameter tube . Like airline tubing as @Slaphppy7 said. Hold it down near the end and stick your hand right in there. Be careful and take your time. If one gets sucked up fish him out and throw him back.

When I fed the fish today I put my hand in the tank to move something, then dripped a couple of drips of tank water onto the vinyl kitchen floor on the way to wash my hands. My husband spotted the drips and made me clean them up with disinfectant. If he ever saw me putting anything tank related in my mouth he'd divorce me o_O

I should never have used the word bacteria in his presence.........

Poser? I feel like I should know what that is

Paraphrasing " If you don't know who the poser is maybe it is you?
The preceding was a joke not intended to harm the Rocky.
Pretender/posturing individual etc OXFORD:"a person who acts in an affected manner in order to impress others."

Ah ok... But I have tasted infusoria water and tank water... If challenged to drink a bottle of one or the other I would choose tank water 😂
(Not that I would accept the challenge even, cause I wouldnt as I'm not dumb LOL)

I would have thought that would depend on where you put your mouth ;)
