I have been gently pushing and pulling and tugging but it won't budge. I don't want to weaken the aquarium glass by being forceful. I tried using a tool but scared I will crack the glass. What tips have you got?

A sharp knife Mel, down between the silicone and the glass and gently cut it away. Have a look down in the hardware section, there are loads of threads on removal of them - good luck, just be gentle and it will eventually come away.

Ok will give that a go, was trying a chisel lol not a good idea

have you got a wooden spatula? slide it down the side and prize it off, then you wont scratch the glass. saying that I yanked mine off with excessive force

I can't get anything down the side I have tried a couple of knives but there is no room to slide them in
Sooo frustrating

you just need a thin sharp knife thats how i done mine i never bothered to remove all the silicone once it was off

I can't get a knife to slide down though :/ its too tight fit behind the filter box

Vinegar, pour a little down to eat away at the silicone, just make sure you dont get any on the seals of the tank. Then you might be able to pull it off.

Edit: This is a trigon right, so the filter box is in the corner, in which case, work from the sides into the back, making sure you dont get any at the back on the main seal.

can you heat the end of a knife bend it to the right shape then heat the end and melt the silicone? also try using a wire like a cheese slice

It's crazy I think it must be new super duper sticky silicone, I can get the knife behind it *JUST* but even slilcing through the silicone it seems to restick itself the filter box hasn't budged an inch. I have all 4 blobs at the bottom though, so that's not helping whatsoever

well its actually an epoxy putty thing, so if you can find a way to dissolve it that would work. acetone )nail varnish remover would work, use a pipette to drop it in. make sure it doesnt go on the tank seal!!! dipping the knife in it should do it and then slice away

I wish I had your confidence but I am too chicken to put acetone in my tank lol
