I built one of pseuds dyi CO2 contraptions, 2 liter bottle, cap with tube sealed with silicone, check valve, 2 inch diffuser, 2 cups of sugar, 1 teaspoon of fleishmans active dry yeast, and it has been set up since last night, but there are no bubbles being produced, have I missed something? Am I supposed to put anything else in the mixture?

Sometimes it takes up to two days for it to start bubbling. What is the temperature of the room?

Are you sure the yeast is in date and are you sure you didnt kill the yeast by the use of hot water or something like that, i know it can take a while but it never took me that long to see bubbles on DIY mixes, i usually would see some bubbles within the hour.

Maybe time to make another mix and scrap that one.

both the yeast and the sugar were straight from the store, no hot water was mixed with the yeast. What is the ideal room temp for the rpoduction of CO2?

It's usually the higher the better. Pretty much around 78 degrees F is the best production rate. At 58 degrees F, it will probably take a couple of days to start producing, if it produces at all.

Is your check valve inserted the right way round? Blow through it to make sure you didn't put it on backwards.

Disconnect it from the bottle and blow through the tubing to make sure air can indeed pass through.

I suspect you have a leak somewhere, probably around the bottle cap. Try another mixture, and if that doesn't work, check for leaks.
