Hi all --

my Angel fish just spawned, and all the other fish in the tank are attacking and trying to eat the eggs -- even though the two Angel fish are defending the eggs like crazy. Last time they spawned, all (approx. 400) eggs were eaten within a few hours. This time there were about 100 eggs left before I noticed it. So to avoid the same from happening again, I did the following:

I cut the leaf of the Amazon sword the eggs are attached to and put it into a safe area (in an open plastic box protected by a net, sitting in the water) which has good airation and water flow, at the same temperature and using the same water as the rest of the tank. You can see the protected area on the right-hand side of the image below.

Is this a good method to protect the eggs? What else should I be aware of? Do you think the eggs have a god chance to survive and baby Angel fish to hatch??

Need to post this in the cichlids section of the fourm.
Good luck.
