How Can I Clean Sand

Help my sand is very dirty and need to know quick to do the right thing waaaaaaa help.

Use a graval vacume. About 5 quid.

pfuu it was'nt that bad! realy will sand not go throught to the other side and into the bucket?

And if i have an under gravel filter can a small amount of sand go on top of it and how much would you recormend?

No it cant. I dont mean a real vacume trust me just get a graval vac.

can sand still hold down plants and give themk the proper nutrients??

a gravel vac or siphon can be used to hoover the crud off sand, simply hover the vack just above the sand so it sucks the crap up but leaves the and behind, you also need to remember to stir your sand as anareobic layers build up as things decay in the sand, and this may become harmfull to fish.


and yes guppies are great sand is in most cases better for plants as they anchor better in it and especialy if you use root tabs or such like then they thrive much like my tank
