Now i made the mistake of buying fish from pets at home... (don't shoot). but keeping in mind that my tank was near fully stocked figured i could easily fit in one more molly seeing as i'd recently lost one.
When i got their i noticed the keyhole cichlid and asked for more information. the shop attendant told me they are placid, timid fish that go well in community tanks, and pointed out that they grow to 6cm MAX (this was also on the tank in print) i went back to the store pointing out that on some sites it suggests they'll easily double that and they said they don't grow more than stated on their tank! So who's right me or them? and to what size do they max out at?
any help is appreciated :good:

my pair are about 4" but i'll expect them to grow about another inch or so,

how long did they take to get to that size?

here it says 10 cm, a little better than the 12+ someone in my LFS quoted today but still bigger than PaH's quote!

never trust anything said from somewher elike pets at home. if you can't resist impule buying fish then invest in a good fish ID and info book and take it with you when you go fish shopping.

or find a decent fish shop that has some, the lfs we use has copies of baensch out back so you can look things up with them. obviously no book is infallible but it'll certainly point you in the right direction.
