she's already quite large. they're pregnant for about a month, right? i know she's been pregnant since i got her - a little over two weeks. i was wondering when i should move her to the "nursery". she hasn't been hovering too much in one place, just a little bit.

at first it's difficualt to know when their going to give birth, but over a few months u lurn what she she'll get to.
She'll as become a little antisoceral, hideing when she's near.

Good luck though

If she is that far along, I wouldn't move her at all. The stress caused to livebearers by moving them late in the pregnancy can cause the female to abort the fry. If you are insistent on separating her out before she births, make sure she has her own tank, rather than a breeder. From my experience, the contraptions cause much more stress.

I agree, in my experience, the breeder trap has caused more problems than it has solved.

I have separated my pregnant guppies in the past and they have gone on to have healthy broods of babies. Although I have had to remove the mother quite quickly back into the big tank because she has started to eat them.

I was too late the other day and did not transfer a pregnant guppy and she had the babies in my community tank. I came along just in time to see the last fry being scoffed by one of my Angelfish!!!

okay. i know i have a few fish that'll try to eat anything small enough that moves. thats why i figured moving her would be best.
