Hi,

I have an SLR but wondered how people find it best to photograph their fish. I often find the photos look blurred due to their movement and the water but using a flash dulls colours and possibly scares the fish.

Any advice?

Thanks.

good lighting is key, take a picture of the whole tank, then cut it down to a specific fish, as long as you have a high quality camera this works and doesnt scare them with a bic lens coming up to the glass :p

Brilliant, sorry I missed that thread! Very helpful though :good:

For fish use a high shutter speed and flash, for the whole tank, use no flash, and adjust exposure/shutter speed according to the tank lighting.

+1 and take photos at night or make sure that there is little light in the room. This will reduce any reflections present in the glass.

Brilliant, all sounds good. I do have a polarising filter :)

Thanks!
