how are these bulbs?

well i have an 18gal tank with some plants i bought at the lfs and im not sure bout any names but they seem to be pretty common since i have seen them in two other stores today.anyway im usin two mini compact 50/50/at twenty watts each. i think this is enough but needed a second opinion. thanks

If so, they are 50% 10,000k and 50% actinic blue. The 10,000k is a bit high, your plants will do better at 6,700k. The actinic blue half of the bulb won't benefit your plants, but will promote algae growth.

yah those are the ones. what do you reccomend since i cant seem to find anything in the screw in type for my 18gal tank. they say coral life so i thought they might be good..do i have to get the bulbs from a lfs?

You don't have to buy them from a fish store, as long as they are the right spectrum. Coralife only makes 50/50 bulbs, and All-glass only makes them in 11w. I can't find any other "aquatic" mini compact bulbs.

Now you got me thinking I might order a couple of the bottom bulbs for a CO2 injected 10g I have.

right thats all i can find also. maybe someone else can chime in here and tell me where i can find mini compact bulbs in the right spectrum and where i can get them. someone please help. ive looked in the forums and havent found anything..unfortunately my hood uses screw in type bulbs. im not sure if normal fluorescent bulbs will work but i know these cost me 16bucks each and im on my way to return them..maybe when i get back i will have some new info.
