How Are Bettas Judged At Shows?

I was browsing Aquabid looking at all the gorgeous bettas, some the sellers claim are show quality. Why is it that some bettas that are basic colors are worth almost double or triple the cost of an exotic colored betta? Same with the tails, i've seen fine looking Crowntails sold for $5-10, but some smaller crowntails going for over $50! I dont get how they judge them?

I'm a IKGH Guppy (Europe) judge and training as a Association of Aquarists (uk) judge for fish in general.

Sadily in the UK there is no national betta shows.
Although the FBAS are trying to host a small one at the festival of fish keeping in Oct. However the FBAS way of judging is awful when trying to translate across to betta's.

If there is a guide online I'll love to have a read.
