hi guys been a while since i have been here and indeed a while since i have kept cichlids.
my tank is now fully set up with fantastic water stats anyway my question is..

how agile are cichlids last time i kept them it was with big rocks with big caves this time im using pebbles it has plenty of gaps and hidy holes but they are not very big hidy holes is that ok or will i need to get some sort of flat stone to make the caves bigger with wider gaps?

it looks great now in my opinion but id rather it be better for the fish to live in rather than pleasing to the eye i just wanna get it right before i add fish??

any help welcome cheers

Yea, i think it would be better to have gaps big enougth to produce decent caves for them. It dosn't nessaseraly have to be flat stones such as slate, (although they do produce the best imo), just aslong as there's caves/dens for territory/breeding/hiding ect... :good:

Cichlids can fit into some unbelievably small holes if they feel like it. However, it's always best to have some larger holes for full-grown adults, especially if you have rough textured rocks as too small holes could lead to abrasions.
