nothings gone wrong with this stuff and my plecos love it.
im asking this because ive just recently set up a 39gal and all it has init decoration wise is a silk plant and 1 pot split in half to form small caves, but the middle of the tank is bare so i was wondering if i could put quite alot of these tiles in it, make it look mbuna but with community fish :D

looks like slate...if it is then it's fine just clean it really well. Baking or boiling is the recommended method.

The tiles should be fine, as long as they don't affect your water parameters. Try putting some vinegar on one, if it fizzes, then it shouldn't be in your tank. Also make sure the roof tiles are free of any adhesives or other chemicals.

i have been having work done to my house, and they have just finished and still have loadz of tiles left that are still stacked, so ive boiled them for 20mins and now ive just put them in my tank it looks awsome, ill post some pics in a min ok :D
looks much better than it beeing bare :p

I read in my fish book that slate is OK as it is inert. I have some in my garden but havent cleaned it for the tank, I just picked it up in the Lake district where its mined.
