All of my tanks are 90 degrees. The air temperature is in the 90s as well. I am going to do a water change and add cold water. Any other suggestions? I am too poor to get central air. :(

Hi

This one keeps coming up, form our friends over the pond. Not a problem in the colder climate of the UK.

You can put ice packs in the water, blow a fan across the water surface, add a chiller unit, or do as you have said, and add cooler water.

If you search the forum you will find some other solutions.

I would definately do the WC. You only want to decrease the temp a degree or 2 every hour at most. That way you avoid the stress on the fish. I usually plop some ice cubes in there if i need to. Mine is a 55 gal so it does depend on the size of your tank for how many you put in.

water coolers at my lfs cost several hundred CAD. . . i guess that means i'll be adding cooler water (the fan blowing seems to bother my fish). how often should i add cool water, or should i just moniter the temperature and add more when necessary?

thx for the diy water cooler post, dg :D

i dont know if that idea will work for me though, because

1. i dont have room for another fridge
2. im not very handy with a drill, although i could get a carpenter or someone to do it for me (depends how much it would cost me; it might not be worth it)

Had me goin' too :S, but anyway...

Dolphin's mention of an ice-pack (ice in a zip-loc plastic bag or other) will protect the fish from the raw water. ;)

Graeme/reg2k2 - who's who? What?!?!?
1) The fridge is only tiny (about 30cm)

2) I'm sure your not that bad :) Borrow a drill of a m8 and pratice on something (maybe the neighbours house if you dont get on :D) or else come down to London and i'll put it together for you for free :)
