I'm thinking of buying a hosptial tank incase any of my fish get ill.

Has the hospital tank got to be running 24:7 even if it doesn't have fish in it? Because it has to cycle too right?

Do I add water/gravel from my main tank into the hopstial aqarium?

I read the guide on http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showto...869&hl=hospital , but still a bit unsure

Easiest way to keep a hospital tank cycled is to keep the sponge (or whatever filter media it has) in your main tank until you need to set up the hospital tank- that's where most of the bacteria live so it will be instantly cycled. I even keep a spare sponge in one of my other tanks when the hospital tank is in use just in case the hospital bacteria are knocked out by medication.

Or like me add it in your canister filter ! thats if you can i have the FX5 so theres no problem there for me.

Also, you can keep it in your closet if you want. When you want it, just fill it up with 1/3 tank water and the rest tap water.
