The saga continues. While I was gone over the weekend I lost one of my cherry barbs and another is missing. The remaining fish is completely covered with white flecks. (How long after beginning treatment and cranking the heat do they usually go away? I didn't see anymore on my gourami today but there are still a couple on my tetra, too.) So I want to set the little guy up in a hospital tank. The best I can do right now is a one gallon that I had been getting ready for one of my bettas. I can aerate just find my problem is going to be heat. I have a small tank heater but it's hard to get it over the high 70's. I've just added the heater and wrapped the tank in a blanket so that it's not going to lose heat as much hoping that this will help.

Since he's been in a tank around 84 for days now will he be OK in a cooler tank so that he can have the proper amount of medication and salt? (Currently, because of my tetra and corys I am medicating my main tank at half dose and not adding salt.) Any other advice would be appreciated too. Thanks!

is this an outbreak of whitespot? are you treating for whitespot?
if so, when i treated my tank for white spot it cleared at different rates, the whitespot cleared quickly from my balck tetras, I had to do a course of treatment over 4 days i think it was, it took longer for them to clear off my Rams, almost a week. so I guess you just need to be patient.

good luck

Yeah, I didn't post all the info because my other posts have covered all the details and it's getting pretty long.

But yeah! by wrapping my little tank with a blanky I actually got it up to 82 last night so I'm going to go ahead and move my last little cherry barb into it so I can treat her full strength and provide some salt.

Last night was their fifth day on Malachite Green. I've lost five fish so far, hoping that I've turned the corner.

Also wondering if I should do a water change so that I can get the bottom vaccumed really well again. Can someone let me know. Thanks!
