I was out of town this weekend to attend my very first betta show, and when I got home, my mother had some horrible news for me... Both A'albiel and Asmoday have passed away :byebye:
I love those guys, and they were completely healthy and happy the day I left... I gave them a water change Thursday, left Friday, and mom said they died Saturday. They died in full colour, and the only odd thing was that it looked like their gills were red and inflamed. At first I couldn't figure out what in the world happened, but then it hit me -- our cleaning lady. She comes by once every two weeks to vaccuum, wash the windows, and things like that. She came by Friday and used glass cleaner on my computer desk... my glass computer desk on which A'albiel and Asmoday's tanks sat, side-by-side. Mini's tank is near them too, so she could very well have died if it wasn't for the fact that her tank has a solid plastic cover. I did a water change on her today, just incase.

I just can't believe this happened... I figured any person with an ounce of common sense would know not to use spray chemicals of any kind around live animals, but I guess not. I'm not mad at our cleaning lady, because I know she would never have meant to do that, but it just really breaks my heart :-(

Oh that's so sad, Synirr :( I didn't know A'albiel personally but I'm sure he was wonderful. I did know Asmoday though and my heart breaks for you :byebye:

I am so sorry about your fish.

It is a great reminder to us all--DO NOT CLEAN WITH SPRAY BOTTLES AROUND THE FISH!!

Yeah, while I miss them both, I'm especially sad about Asmoday... he was really a beautiful fish and had a wonderful personality

My sister did that around one of my fish and I told her if she did it again, I'd have to break her hand.

Sorry about your fishies!

Oh. I am so sorry to hear that. Things just happened by human careless and just last week also happen to a friend of mine.
I did send out a cute 3" white midas this early march to him in east coast. The new owner loves him so much because he got a very fun personally, playful and he put him in a 35 gallon tank in his bedroom. Just end of last month, When he was out for 4 hours, the mother when into his room and do the cleaning. Yes, the first time, vacumn, spray and then she left. The mother feels like the midas just knocking the glass but she didn't know what is wrong with it. When my friend came home, he saw the midas flooding on top of the water. As least the midas take his last breath before he past away in his hand. My friend feels so so up sad because he did attach the midas very much. He felt so bad and he wants to say sorry to me because he didn't take good care of the midas. I know how you feels too because I do have the midas raise in my hand for 5 months.

Yes, I know what it's like. It is always a sad loss, then trying to figure it out ... We lost quite a few fish to an introduced chemical (surface spray in the area), definately learnt our lesson. Not all the fish died just a little over half, and it was a damned healthy community before that!

RIP little A'abriel and Asmoday. They were beauties too...

I am so sorry to hear of your extreme loss. That must be very hard on you to lose not 1 but 2 of your beloved friends. :byebye:
