hornwort turning brown in the middle

my hornwort turned brown in the middle kind of like rotting but the top and bottom are fine
want a quick answer. should i add ferts or no

The middle has been damaged and is dying. use a sharp clean pr of scissors and cut the plant an inch above the rotten stuff. keep the green bits and throw the brown bits away.

Water movement does not kill plants. Rough handling does and so does a sudden change in temperature or water chemistry (pH, GH, KH).
