Please help!

I dont know whether this is as a result of age? (2+ years) but one of my angels started 'floating' at the top of the tank, on its side last night. Swimming around on its side. will eat normally and periodically returns to swimming normally. It is large (body = 4.5 inches) - is it just getting old? I dont think it is swim bladder, but would appreciate any advise.

Tanks levels normal. Temp normal. No new fish added recently. All other angels are normal.
Changed from under gravel filter to bio wheel filter 2 weeks ago but no odd signs until now.

2 years is young for an angel and they are prone to swimbladder infections.
It doesnt look good im afraid. Can you isolate the fish at all? If it was one of mine then I would starve the tank for three days and see if its food related, if it doesnt recover then maybe think about euthenising.

It does not sound like swim bladder, since it sounds like it can swim normal at times. With swim bladder problems, the fish will struggle to swim correctly, but cannot. If it swims very slowly, looking very weak, then it does not look good for the fish.

What do you feed your fish it could also be constipation.
Any trialing poo.

Generally I feed flakes or frozen blood worm. Never had any problems with constipation before.
When it does swim, it is normal for a while, but spending more and more time lying on the top.
I will isolate and try not feeding for a few days. It is stressing the other angels out if I keep it in the tank.
Keep fingers crossed!
Thanks for your help

Peas help for constipation. get the old digestive system running smoothly.

That's the worse diet possible flakes and bloodworms to high protein.
More frozen foods and veg in there diet.

Peas??? Serious??!
I'll definitely add more veggies into their diet - thanks to both

The one angel is still floating, breathing a bit laboured but it seems to be coping.
Another angel started doing the same thing yesterday morning, and I got home last night to find the remaining 3 covered in furry fungus.

I am treating the entire tank for the fungus (strangely the original sick angel doesnt have this?).
None of them have eaten since Saturday. I tried with some veggie flakes, but no one is interested.

Could this still be swim bladder? Or does it all come back to changing to the bio-wheel???
If it is either of these, is there anything I can do? It is heartbreaking to see them at the moment...

You have a bacterial infection in your tank.
Where is the fluffy fungus on the fish it's columnaris and if a few have it sounds like a bad strain.

It is all over them, mainly concetrating on the body, but a bit on the fins too. They also have developed (this evening) more signs of bacterial infection, showing as inflamed/red at the base of their fins/tail. Whatever it is, it is worsening very quickly and hasnt yet responded to treatment. I reran the tests on the water (Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrate, pH), and everything still comes back as 'ideal'. I have never even had a touch of whitespot before??! The two 'floating' angels may need to just simply be put out of their misery, and I will quarantine the other angels who have the fungus, to try to limit the spread of damage.
