Hoplo Question

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

I just found your forum through Google when searching for information about Hoplo's

I have 2 currently in my tank and my sister has had them for quite a while.

My tank has been up and running now for about 8 months and i have had these two from the very start.

About 3 months ago I noticed that one of my hoplo's had pretty much lost all its fins on the front and the top, however it could still swim pretty well and could still get food when I dropped it in so I wasn't too concerned about that.

But recently the same Hoplo has started to rest on its back for some reason. I was wondering if this indicates a problem?

Any ideas?

Losing fins and Lying on its back are both problems

what are the current water stats?
Is the fish gasping at all?
did the fins 'rot away' or has the fish been attacked?
what size tank are they in, what size are they?
