Bought a couple of Honey Gouranis a week ago and both were fine. Today one is not well. It is either resting at the bottom of the tank (100 litre) or hiding near the top under vegetation. It looks fine with none of the usual sickness symptoms except the head has gone darker and the red beneath the belly is darker. Any one got any ideas?

What are your water stats (ammonia and nitrite more important) and how long has your tank been set up for?

Could be water quality - that's a common cause of fish being 'off colour'. Any photo you can get?

do they get on ok with each other? when i kept dwarf gouramis they chased each other and the inferior one always went really dark almost black due to the stress involved....

just a thought.....

The water quality was fine, tested it all. Tank was set up over three months ago. However, overnight it turned vertical, head up, so took it back to the shop who said it was stress. They kept it in a spare tank but it died overnight. There had been no bullying that we could see, they seemed so content together! Ah well, we know what to look for now. Thanks!
