I brought 3 honey gouramis about 3 weeks ago 2 males and a female when I brought them they were all bright yellow but now the female has a black stripe running along each side of her body and I was wondering if anyone knew what it was. I have no experience with breeding gouramis and as this female has spent a lot of time with one of the males I wondered if this could be a spawning behaviour. Would love so help on this as it's got me puzzled from Tom

It's a females normal colouring once they mature.

My male is in my profile and one of my females in my sig so you can see the difference.

The usual ratio for honeys is 1 male to two females. I have 1m:4f in my 180 litre.

How big is your tank? - you will have to watch out for territorial behaviours between the two males and certainly get more females as yours will be worn out from being chased by the males, it will be too much for her.

Good luck.

I'm glad that it's natural for her and it's a 110 litre and is it easy to breed the honey gourami.
