hey all, ive just picked up the glass for the tank that im building for the new house. thought id post the first pic with more to follow.
the size when done will be 40" x 20" x 19" high.

I remember building the stand for my 55 gallon. It's not actually very difficult, but it cost almost as much as just buying one. I bet its much sturdier though. Good Luck!

Do you have to use special glass (a certain type? a certain thickness?)

How much are glass panes + glue Vs a tank of similar size?

all that you see in the picture cost me £9.90 ha ha, that was the price of the aquarium sealant. my uncle is a glass cutter and has his own business so that cost me a bottle of wine.
its just normal glass of 8mm thickness, toughened glass ive heard is a big no no as it smashes rather than cracks.
think im going to need that luck but all i can do is do my homework and give it a go (also test it outside ha ha)
