I've been surfing the closed auctions to see if I can fid some good deals. I'll e-mail and ask on fish that had no bids if they woudl just sell for the listed price.

So I see this one..and I think..that's gotta be a type-o, but it wasn't.

lets say you can get a regular betta for 5 dollars... 1000/5 = 200 mind you they wouldn't look as cool as that one but to each his/her own

I think it's a buddy trying to make the seller look good. AB has gotten some crooked deals going on lately, and I'm betting this is one of them. The odds are that the person is a crook, and not that stupid.

The buyer was BettaCollective...and I looked at some other closed auctions and they also purchased one for $400 as well.

Do they have insurance for fish? lol If so, you're right..I'd most definately have some on it haha.

In all fairness..imo it's not even close to worth that..I've seen some selling for $50 (which that one started out at $30) that were alot prettier fish. But who knws thsi ones background...but still $1000 . lol

I had to back out of a bid becasue it went to $28..I just can't pay over $20-25 for one, of course I don't breed either though..that might make a slight difference.


I just thought you guys might find it amuzing..or in this case maybe informative...I didn't even think about someone doing that to make themselves look good. That's a shame if that's what is going on.

IMO thats the best betta i have ever EVER seen in my life but paying a $1000 for such a small fish witch doesnt live that long is kinda stupid.
UNLESS! he is a breeder and this fish is going to make him money.

I'm sorry, he calls that "best black"? That is hardly the best black Betta out there, look at all the steel in it....that fish doesn't even come close to the coveted "molly black" that breeders are so desperate for....this is definetly not on the up and up, I don't care what other auctions the "buyer" has won, those were probably not on the up and up either.

That's what I was thinking. Marianne has some blacks (not solid black tho) on her website and various others that I have visited..and they are 10 times better looking then that one..and they are selling for $100 a pair.

Is Aquabid not like Ebay, in that the accounts are monitored..so people cannot open more then 1 account, as to keep them from doing that to their own auctions?


It is a pretty fish though...I could see it going for $100..but when I saw $1000..I at first thought it was a type-o. Then I looked at the bid history.

I guess that would be a seller to keep an eye on when bidding huh? :
