Ok my guppy fry are 3 weeks old now and i'm going away in 1 week so they will be a month old. They are still in a tank of their own as i have not had the guts to put them in the main tank with all those 'big scary' swardtails yet! I was wondering, can they live off of one of those holiday blocks at such a young age? I'm only away for a week but i dont want to return to find them all dead.

I would say a week would be okay for adults but fry would be risking it since they're still developing and need the nutrition. Is there any friends/family that could drop by say 2-3 days out of that week? If not, last resort would be to add some live moss and plants for them to munch on(my fry love eating moss and plants) or any alage covered objects u may have from other tanks add to the fry tank. Just look at my fry enjoying a algae covered rock:

can it be a rock from say an outside pond or does it have to be from a tropical fish tank?

I would say a fish tank(or a stone left in a bowl full of dechlorinated water) b/c pools usually have chlorine in them and who know what other outdoor products has entered it.
